The Florida computer science standards when looking at its component seems like an overload of information to touch base on. Yet it’s still an important part of student education that they will need to learn in order to succeed. Looking at grades K-2nd, students must learn the basics of computer literacy and skills that will help them navigate technology. Some of these skills include identifying digital tools for communication and collaboration, creating simple algorithms, and providing proper car for electronic. However within these skills there are some safety lessons such as identifying safe and unsafe examples of communication and explaining that some information is private and should not be shared online. When teaching about the internet and how to use computers it’s also important to educate students on being safe on the web along with learning how to use computers too.

When looking at the educator toolkit on CPALMS, I had selected visual arts for grade 4. I think if I was going to be a teacher I would be interested in the arts or science. The lesson plans given  from the educator toolkit is a great resource that can help give ideas and insight to formulate a lesson plan of your own. These lesson plans include detailed activities, objectives and strategies to help with the specific topic chosen. Each resource can help provide enriching ideas or solve obstacles that teachers may have.

Teaching students on computer literacy means we as teachers must be proficient as well. Everything starts with being proficient in searching the web for exactly what is needed. Without this skill finding and creating lesson plans will be more and more difficult as technology advances. Especially if we are not able to keep up. One tactic I will be using to enhance my searching skills is combining searches. As easy as it might be to search on the web for something having thousands and thousands of results can be a lot to go through when you are looking for something specific.
