The Florida computer science standards when looking at its component seems like an overload of information to touch base on. Yet it’s still an important part of student education that they will need to learn in order to succeed. Looking at grades K-2nd, students must learn the basics of computer literacy and skills that will help them navigate technology. Some of these skills include identifying digital tools for communication and collaboration, creating simple algorithms, and providing proper car for electronic. However within these skills there are some safety lessons such as identifying safe and unsafe examples of communication and explaining that some information is private and should not be shared online. When teaching about the internet and how to use computers it’s also important to educate students on being safe on the web along with learning how to use computers too. When looking at the educator toolkit on CPALMS, I had selected visual arts for grade 4. I think if I was g...

When looking into using particular art/designs there is always the risk of using copy right work. Copyright is the legal concept that work such as art, images, music, etc belongs to the individual who made them. This means other people can’t copy these works and pretend it’s their own. However fair use is the use of copyright material under certain circumstances such as being quoted, criticized, teaching, research and news reporting. Moving around the use of using copyright material as a teacher can be tricky especially when developing my own instructional materials. Not only is it tricky for me, but also for my students as well. I think to avoid these issues for myself, as well as my students, I would try using copy right within the fair use law as close as I can. Another thing to do is using free public domain resources to make my own instructional material.  When implementing technology in classrooms, many see the positive impact they can have on students. However, when loo...

Being a student you have to have access to many program in order to effectively do work. The most common program is Microsoft word. Although I’ve had my fair share of using Microsoft word I have grown more accustomed to using Google Docs. Microsoft office is a program you have to pay for, and although it’s free for students, google docs has always been free. All you have to do is have a Gmail account and you have access to docs, slides and sheets.  Lastly, I have always found google docs to be more simple and straight forward to use than Microsoft word. Yet at the end of the day everyone has their own preference.  ISTE standards are standards that provide a road map to helping students become empowered learners. Having these standards not only help students but also help teachers in enhancing their skills. One standard that I enjoy and that sticks out for me is being a leader. This standard seeks out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success...

Hello everyone, my name is Angel. I am a sociology major at Florida State and I am taking EME 2040 to complete my credit hours for my Minor in education. I had transferred into FSU from BC . I came in with  excess credits that when I had accidentally picked up two education courses I was eminently enrolled in the education minor program. Although I find the whole situation funny it has opened me up to a pathway I didn’t think I would be interested in. Within my own field of sociology and psychology having an education background furthers my study and has allowed me to learn more about the education field even in sociological perspective.  As we all know technology is becoming more innovated as we move forward in the world but technology has become more and more common within educational settings. Schools have been moving away from the traditional paper and pencil usage within classrooms to a more tech oriented approach. Two programs that I have used within my own educati...
